Union Fenosa Wind Australia “Union Fenosa Wind Australia Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of the Spanish Utility Company Union Fenosa S.A. which is an energy company integrated in electricity (distribution and generation) and present in the complete value chain of natural gas. Union Fenosa owns electricity generation plants of some 11,600 MW (Including hydro, nuclear, coal, CCGTs and renewable plants) and serves 9.1 million customers across the world. With more than 14 years in the wind industry and a pipeline of around 900 MW of wind projects in Australia, Union Fenosa will contribute to increase Australia’s existing wind generation capacity, which will in turn contributes to Australia’s Mandatory Renewable Energy Targets. The first project in the pipeline is the 92MW Crookwell II Wind Farm and it is scheduled for 2010. This project will have a number of economic benefits for the local region and community both during the construction and the operation phase, this is through the money injected into the local community by way of turbine rental fees and wages associated to employment opportunities and these would be spent on other activities in the local area which would benefit the broader community.”
